Two day seminar on Farm Estate and Business Planning and Farm Income Tax.

(3) Choice of seminar manual format: There is a discount for choosing the seminar manuals in PDF form only.  For 2017: $25/day discount if you choose to receive the seminar manual(s) in PDF file instead of printed manual(s). PLEASE NOTE: The PDF files will not allow printing, copying or changing the file. These files are designed for use on laptops, iPads and other tablets, so you can still add notes/comments

The regular registration fee includes a printed copy of the manuals.

The Lecturer

Dr. Neil E. Harl is a nationally recognized expert on taxation, estate planning, business planning, and agricultural law and has given over 3,400 seminars in 43 states since 1964.  He is the Charles F. Curtiss Distinguished Professor in Agriculture and Emeritus Professor of Economics at Iowa State University, and a member of the Iowa Bar. Dr. Harl is author of the 14 volume treatise, Agricultural Law, the two volume Farm Income Tax Manual, the one volume Agricultural Law Manual and over 800 articles on agricultural law.  He is also the author of the Tax Management portfolio: Harl, “Taxation of Farm Income.” Dr. Harl has received numerous awards as a scholar and teacher and for distinguished service to agriculture.

The Seminar

As a review of the seminar schedule below indicates, these seminars are designed to provide attendees with a comprehensive and practical understanding of major agricultural tax issues. In addition, the speaker is open to questions and responses from the attendees. Registrants may attend any one or both days, with separate pricing for each combination. Your registration fee includes comprehensive, annotated seminar materials for the days attended which will be updated just prior to the seminar.  A lunch and break refreshments are included in the registration fee.

The Quality Inn & Suites Starlite Village is located at 2601 E. 13th St., Ames, IA, just west of exit 113 of Interstate I-35.  All seminar participants are responsible for their own lodging. Tax deduction for educational expenses


The registration fee is based in part on the version (Printed or PDF file) of seminar manuals you choose.

Attendees who choose the PDF manual will receive the PDF file by e-mail at least one day before the seminars. No printed book will be supplied if you choose the PDF Manual.

Attendees who choose the printed manuals will receive the book at the seminars and may also request a PDF version by e-mail.
