The Authors:

Roger A. McEowen is Leonard Dolezal Professor of Agricultural Economics and Extension Specialist, Agricultural Law and Policy, at Iowa State University, member of the Kansas and Nebraska bars and honorary member of the Iowa Bar. Professor McEowen received a B.S. with distinction from Purdue University in Economics, an M.S. in Agricultural Economics from Iowa State University and a J.D. from the Drake University School of Law.

Professor McEowen has authored two chapters in Kansas Agricultural Law and is a continuing contributor to "Farm Journal," "Top Producer," "Kansas Farmer," and "Agricultural Law Update" in addition to authoring various extension publications for farmers and ranchers. Professor McEowen has written two law review articles, "Planning for the Tax Effects of Liquidating and Reorganizing the Farm and Ranch Corporation" and "Estate Planning for Farm and Ranch Families Facing Long-Term Health Care."

Professor McEowen was co-author of "A Look at the Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) and How It Affects Owners and Tenants of Marginal Land" and "Estate Planning for Elderly and Disabled: Organizing the Estate to Qualify for Federal Medical Extended Care Assistance."

Neil E. Harl is one of the country's foremost authorities on agricultural law. Dr. Harl is a member of the Iowa Bar, Charles F. Curtiss Distinguished Professor in Agriculture and Emeritus Professor of Economics at Iowa State University, and author of the 14 volume treatise, Agricultural Law, the one volume Agricultural Law Manual and numerous articles on agricultural law and economics.
